Lonan3
Remember Bob Quick being photographed with a 'Top Secret' document visible for all (telephoto lens-holding journalists) to read? Remember how he had to resign for such carelessness? Remember how the raids and arrests had to be brought forward for several hours in order to save us from 'A VERY BIG PLOT?' Well, it appears that Wasn't quite so simple as that. Police and counter-terrorism officials were left embarrassed last night after nine Pakistani students suspected of involvement in what Gordon Brown claimed was a "very big plot" against the UK were released without charge. The nine were due to be deported after being handed over to the UK Border Agency. Two remaining suspects are still being questioned by Greater Manchester police. The move came after investigators spent 13 days searching for evidence following the arrests from a number of addresses in Greater Manchester, Liverpool and Lancashire under the Terrorism Act. Investigators had desperately hoped they would find something at the suspects' homes. But after initially hunting for, and failing to find bomb-making equipment, they turned to the computers with their fingers crossed that some evidence of a plot would turn up. They found nothing substantial.

Gladys
It raises the same old questions about the quality of the intelligence services and the basis on which important decisions, not just relating to security, are made at the highest level. mollag
Sad to say but i supose we should be gratefull that they didnt shoot and kill any innocent "terrorists" during the operation. The message sent to the real bad guys? " We are being tracked by Fred Karnos Army" Bad news for truants though, this anti terrorism regime will see all of them caught!
