Nosferatu
Apparently had to turn back this AM on the way to liverpool, now stuck in douglas bay with no steering and an engine not working. Waiting for a tug back into the harbour. Hmm I'l put £1 on a hydraulic failure of some description .
Terse
THE 7.30am Manannan sailing from Douglas to Liverpool has returned to Douglas. A Steam Packet spokesman explained: 'A minor technical issue has occurred and, given the weather conditions in the Mersey, the Master decided in the interests of safety to return to Douglas. 'Snaefell has been made ready to operate the sailing to Liverpool. It is anticipated that Snaefell will depart at approximately 11.30am.' The spokesman added: 'Due to the volume of traffic on the last day of the Manx Grand Prix, Snaefell will not be able to accommodate all the passengers and vehicles from the 7.30am Manannan sailing. 'The company anticipates that Manannan will be back in operation for this afternoon's (Friday) sailing from Douglas. IoM Newspapers

Dave Hedgehog
Grrrr. Merging the threads has gotten rid of newsbot's excellent 'steam vessel returns to port' headline
inspector
I caught the 2030 Liverpool to Douglas last night and watched in amazement as a tug dragged to boat in! However, Mannanan turned itself around and went to Douglas without a care in the world. Weird.
manshimajin
The newest but not new vessel operated by the Steam Packet Company has a technical problem. ...those damn Aussies and Yanks mucked up the hydraulics. Still I'd rather travel on a vessel that can steer.
