Speckled Frost
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4225941.stm Tricky one this. It isn't like racial or sexual discrimination as there are genuine practical concerns over issues like staff cover, particularly for small businesses. Women who take time off really need to sit down with their employer to decide how much time they really need to take off and strike a balance. Minxie
Women who take time off really need to sit down with their employer to decide how much time they really need to take off and strike a balance. When you have a new baby you want to be able to spend as much time with it as possible. Handing over a baby who is just a couple of months old to a stranger / nursery to look after isn't easy emotionally. I am sure that a lot of women (myself included) would love to be able to give up work and be full time parents, but with the cost of child care, mortages, bills etc it's just not always possible
Speckled Frost
I understand it isn't easy Minxie. Of course, a couple of months isn't enough but it's now extended to a year which could be devastating for a small business. Somehow, a middle ground has to be found. Minxie
Yes I see what you mean. Fortunately or Unfortunately however you look at it, the year's full paid leave doesn't apply in the Isle of Man.
