I agree with the solway harvester idea, as that will stop illegal scollop boats skirting the Scollop beds or driving clean through the middle of them. that cable reef will just get trashed,

Reports say they're going to cover a 4 sq km area with cable - that's one heck of a lot a cable. Is this possibly a gentle introductory spin into the revelation that the some of the MEA's / Manx Cable Company's (i.e. our) millions had been invested in spare cable - and now they're going to bury it by dumping it fathoms deep in a big butt on the seabed? and/or will we see some of our Mr Profitt's underwater turbines there as well?

Can we please have one on the west coast near Peel, as much fun as it is to catch Mackerel all day it would be nice to have the chance of catching a few other species....?

Good on DAFF for doing this.

Similar schemes elswhere have been very successful in attracting marine life

But why just bugger about with old cable, the yanks sank an aircarft carrier off Florida as a dive site & fish nursery

Yes but they've got loads of aircraft carriers, we've only got a broken kids boat at Onchan Park.
