Common decency would have required some sort of COMMUNICATION

And spend more depositors' money on empty words?

Give me a break

I have plenty of emails from him

How to you think the bank communicates Passenger pigeon ?

This would of course account for the lack of any.

Most banks don't communicate by email. My banks have no idea what my email address is.

Best to use the "ADD REPLY" on the lower row of buttons rather than the "REPLY" next to "QUOTE"

This will just add your reply without automatically quoting the post, which becomes tedious if that post is directly above the one you are replying to.

With quotes - best to use sparingly for best effect, otherwise tedious

I am sure Sebrof you must be extremely weathy as you are so clever and know it all.

No, but I'm not a complete flipping idiot.

S

I confess I am surprised what with always researching the banks prior to putting the dosh in not doing anything so foolish as putting your eggs in etc etc

Tell me where do you keep your eggs?

If I ever get my money back where IYO should I put it?

I am at this moment in time undecided as to under the bed or a hole in the back garden.

Your wise advice would be much appreciated what about the IOM?

Convince me.

It would depend on your qualifications.

Most IFAs I have come across are as qualified as estate agents .

They will sell you any old crap for a commission.

All IFAs should be rich , how can they advise you on your finances if they haven't managed it for themselves.

Bellyup, here is some free advice. Unless you are actually paying a financial advisor, he is not an independant financial advisor. They are simply the type of financial advisor you describe above. A true IFA you have to pay, and he may, or may get any commission from products and strategies he recommends to you.

No. You seem to be confusing 'independent' with 'unbiased'. They were initially called independent to differenciate from an advisor who works for a single organisation, for example a financial advisor for a bank. The regulation is now quite tight, and you always have the option to pay for their advice rather than them receive a fee and any commission the IFA receives must now be disclosed.

I was quite impressed with Financial Options, who advised me to take a product where they received no fee, and their advice was free. Their position was that I was more likely to take other products that did earn a fee, such as insurance, though them, and I did.

Go in with your eyes open certainly, but your post is quite badly out of date in my opinion.

Free advice is worth exactly what you pay for it.
