Iomspc Irish Services

They'll use Manannan for Irish services, and if there continues to be no advertising she'll run empty at a massive loss. They'll then go crying to the government that they cannot run the services, which will then mean that either the govt goes soft and gives them a subsidy, or the service gets dumped.

or perish the thought...they will lose the monopoly to the Linkspan if they are in breach of the User Agreement that they signed up to?

But they won't they will go crying to the Gov claiming they cant make a decent profit under the current UA as it is too restrictive and its not fair and the government will just change the agreement to suit the IOMSPC fuck the passengers and the people of the island we can't possibly have a company lose money in an enforced monopoly.

There will be no sailings from IOM to Dublin after this year and Belfast will have one return sailin per week during peak periods, this is due to the user agreement coming to an end this year.

The Report of the Select Committee into the IOMSPC states the following about the User Agreement duration:

The timeline of the User Agreement is as follows -

• User Agreement Licence Period was implemented with effect from 1 October 1995 for ten years;

• By Supplemental Agreement dated 20 February 2002, the Company exercised its option to extend the Licence Period from 1 October 2005 to 18 September 2010;

• By further Agreement, dated 21 December 2004, the Licence Period was further extended from 19 September 2010 for a period of ten years with an option to extend for a further six years (i.e until 2026);

This would seem to indicate that the UA will continue in its current form until 2020 and possibly 2026.

the Snaefell will be sold at the back end of this year

Really? Who'd buy it? Would you buy a car knowing it had been an insurance write-off?

They haven't been able to sell the other one - Viking, though apparently that's now going to go down to the Azores doing what Lady of Mann used to do in the summer (hope the wind doesn't blow!)

The scrapyards will buy the old heap . Few quids worth of aluminium there . The Viking isn't theirs to sell it's still owned by sea containers , the racket are sub chartering it out .

What the Hell have IOMSPC been smoking? In Belfast, the company has abandoned the old Steam Packet terminal building and moved down river to a new terminal which was formerly used by Stena Line. The building they use now is little more than an oversized metal shed and was "The Truckers Lounge" in its Stena days. The decision to move to a new location was "to serve the newer, larger vessels."
