fergie
Great talk of regenerating Ramsey including millions of pounds to refurbish the Queens Pier, but the commissioners seem to have overlooked the derelict state of the former pastimes, & i.ce cream shop next to lifeboat house. What must our visitors think of this eyesore It is an utter disgrace that there is nothing there to encourage holiday makers to enjoy the lovely beach which has been aggravated further by the closure of the swimming pool cafe. I feel it would just take some inituitive from the commissioners & a few thousand pounds to regenerate the sea-side holidays in Ramsey, rather than them focusing on some pie in the sky £100million scheme to enclose Ramsey Bay. Rhumsaa
whilst I agree in principle... The prom died as a tourist attraction the second they created kings and queens court apartments - we could have rivalled peel and port erin for a sea front with a pier but short sightedness has ruined it As it stands those properties are too far out of the centre of Ramsey to redevelop, also there is little else you could do at a reasonable cost Pedestrianisation of Parliament street in a similiar vein to the regeneration of douglas quay might work better or a way of encouraging people to make use of the mooragh park and then stay in ramsey

Albert Tatlock
I suggest Ramsey should be a car park, with a park and ride monorail into Douglas. You could do that for £100M.
Rhumsaa
it already is just without the monorail but then.... so is every other town outside of douglas

Rhumsaa
well you could look at it as dropping off outside the old swimming pool or see it as dropping off near market square and st pauls square also name another good location for coaches to park also also even if you redeveloped the 2 locations you mention you would draw people further away from the current shops also also also those shops weren't beaten down with sticks by the commissioners they failed as they weren't making enough money cause they had no customers - you re-open them and nothing will have changed also also also also since when was it the commissioners business to start running ice cream shops to rival the 2 other ice cream shops and various other cafes that have sprung up and done well all by themselves in better locations? Albert Tatlock
I'll say it again...an F1/2/3/4 circuit in the north - is the only thing that will help Ramsey. Stick to what we do best at - motorsports.
WilDDog
It's not just the state of the old pastimes and ice cream shop but all those containers at the end of the promenade are also an eyesore. I'm all for the regeneration ideas, especially refurbishing the Pier.
Declan
Motorsports is what we do best? Hard to imagine what our worst is.
Albert Tatlock
Just one downside....the toilets at the cafe. In need of updating and they was a slight 'parfum de piss' about the gents. I guess that could just be a timing issue, but they could be made a lot better for not much cash. No. Spending less pennies there would solve it. manxman8180
Whilst on the Ramsey thing....... We took our youngest (4ish) up to Mooragh Park at the weekend. I must say I was pleasantly surprised, the park (swings etc) is decent with plenty of things to entertain and that water fountain / play park bit is fantastic entertainment. We met some other folk with kids and they played for hours. The whole park was in fantastic condition, with really well kept gardens. The cafe was pretty good as well. Freshly prepared food, delivered waitress style and I thought pretty reasonably priced too. Just one downside....the toilets at the cafe. In need of updating and they was a slight 'parfum de piss' about the gents. I guess that could just be a timing issue, but they could be made a lot better for not much cash. Miss Roo
also name another good location for coaches to park How about outside that charming little stone building next door to the Buffs Club on the quay, it is seeping charm out the rafters, the true gem of Ramsey!
