KMC Posted August 19, 2009 Share Posted August 19, 2009 Yes but you'd have to factor in all the additional costs of virtually everything here and balance that against the 'wonderful low taxes.' This place is well overdue for a good hammering with the reality stick. Yes, One of the factors I needed to consider was the fact that I would be commuting fortnightly back to Cumbria due to my wife not wanting to move across just yet. She has her own career, and what with family etc, wasn't ready just yet to make the move. The tax system would have been a great benefit to me, and the mortgage assistance (tax relief) would have enabled me to take on another mortgage which on equal salary to here, would have made very little difference to net pay. 18% V 40% However, and as you point out, the general cost of living and travel expenses would have dented that net pay and made a big difference.
