Garden Of Eden Discovered

Heard something about this on the Beeb this morning. Apparently all apples come from a single parent forest in Eastern Kazakhstan. Sounds to be an area that is key in botanical history.

It is good to know that the Emeritus Reader in Plant Sciences at Oxford is a Dr Juniper - and that apples were spread by bears with sweet teeth.

The Soviet Union did its level best to destroy the original forests, including Stalin having the Russian botanist who first surveyed the area murdered and Kruschev clearing the land (not personally of course) for collective farming.

Luckily a small area survives.

And we're sending Rhumsaa to finish them off.

I will go out of my way to try an apple then

I also read about a mountain range that is supposed to have mystical powers and can cure headaches out in the region
