News Conspiracy - Of The Milder Kind...

Now, in this article on iomtoday

CoMin report: Manx economy holding up well

we are informed that everything is hunky dory as ever - so waffle, so good. But, in the last part of the article, we notice a line that must have gotten there by mistake: "Please carry under the pseudonym 'ANGRY MANXMAN'"

sc1.jpg

and see there, the second comment on the page is from someone calling himself "ANGRY MANXMAN"

sc2.jpg

now, the informed reader might be wondering how come that something referring to how a reader would like to be known in the comments pops up as part of the actual article? Surely, the article is posted first and any comments added later, once people had the chance to read it?

What's going on?

A: It's an innocent mistake

B: IOM Papers vent their own opinions by pretending to be readers and posting comments themselves

C: Someone in the know/high up/hoy polloy knew of the article beforehand and wanted the comment added with the article and it got mixed up.

D: Phone a friend

Friday - good for conspiracy fun!

Possibly it is simply the tail end of an email containing the story sent to a journo responsible for publishing the story on the net, that also contained pasted emails from others about the topic (who want to remain anonymous), for publishing on the same page.

There have no doubt been letters and emails sent in on this subject to IOM Newspapers.

Well spotted Amadeus. The only slightly weird bit is that phrase "please carry on under the pseudonym". Why would that be included in a normal tail end to an email.

Maybe it is Richard Butt's alter ego and his alternative to investigating issues of more import than the mayoress' regalia.

Or someone wanted a comment added to the article under thpsuedonymn Angry Manxman, went an e-mail to that effect, iomtoday acted on it but accidently pasted a bit saying "please carry ..." that they'd just cut from the email into the article they were editing.

Stop it Declan. Your reasoned common sense is getting in the way of this important piece of investigative journalism.

It is obvious, to me at least, that the inclusion of a contributor's request to be kept anonymous is no simple'cut and paste' error, but is part of a massive cover up involving government, Tynwald, Isle of Man Newspapers and the Underground Lizard People to keep the truth about our economic situation from us.

The keen eye of Amadeus has identified a slip which has thrown a spotlight on the whole dirty affair - at last we know the truth.

Personally, I am only able to judge how things really are by reading edited highlights from government reports. I do not have the capacity to step outside and judge for myself based on empty shops, increased discounts and sales, people suffering wage reductions, redundancy or budget cuts in the workplace. Due to my inability to differentiate between reality and a government trying to do its best to put on a brave face for fear of chasing away even more business, it is essential that, rather than trying to portray a positive message for residents and potential external business partners for the Island, the government produces reports headline 'We're screwed' and details nothing upbeat, just all the bad things which have happened and will continue to happen.

It is beyond all bounds of imagination that in posting some stuff to their website, someone at Isle of Man Newspapers has accidentally cut and paste a request from a contributor wishing to remain anonymous into a related story and not noticed. These people never make mistakes, this is part of a deliberate cover up and now, thanks to eagle-eyed Amadeus, we are aware.

I would ask Our Saviour to now turn his attention to the Film and Media entry from his original posting and start investigating the word 'depsite' which appears. Transparently, this isn't a simple typo caused by human error, it is more evidence of a devious plot and we must uncover the truth, NOW, before it is too late.

Incidentally. a propos of what you are saying about the economy, some research was carried out in the UK about peoples' ability to handle bad economic news. Basically this found that people would much rather be told the truth up front and can handle it far better than being drip fed gradually worsening news until the point is eventually reached when what is being said is true. They recognise a mess when they see one. Politicians saying that it is not a mess makes them ultra suspicious and angry.

'If it looks like a mess, smells like a mess, behaves like a mess - then it is a mess'
