Why does that bastard Fillipino checkout woman in Tesco think it`s alright to grunt at customers and look at them like they`re pieces of shit. Some old woman was in front of me in the queue today and this ignorant cow just crossed her arms, grunted and stared at the woman because she hadn`t taken her 3 items out of the basket. Cue awkward silence until the poor old girl had to ask why her groceries were not being scanned. What a bitch of an employee. No names mentioned of course. I realise it must be a shit job, but fucking well behave yourself.:angry::angry:

If you stopped visiting places that had rude customer service you would'nt go anywhere, rude people everywhere, personally i love Tesco's and prefer it to shopshite and the coop luckily.

Agree, Roo, shopping in Shoprite is like going the bar at the end of the universe in Star Wars. If Irene is the lady I am thinking of, she has always been pleasant and helpful when I have been in there.

Gladys: I suspect you are confusing the resturant at the end of the universe with the Mos Eisley cantina.

I tend to shop on tesco online then I never have to meet anyone. Ever.

I remember the reverse of this situation when I was in the HSBC in Southport.

A Filipina lady in front of me in the Enquiry Desk queue was trying to open an account. The harridan behind the counter was doing her utmost to make life miserable - all that power to ask for a passport and a copy of a utility bill seemingly having gone to her head.

Having managed to make life wrtched for her client it came to my turn. The harridan then did an eyes rolled to heaven for my benefit and said something about 'foreigners'. It is one of those rare times I really enjoyed losing my cool and telling her that if she didn't appreciate people with cultures that differed to her own limited one she should not be working for a bank that said it was 'The world's local bank' and advertised that it understood how to do business with people from all around the world.

No excuse for bad customer service - but I wonder if it says something about Tesco management in your case? Surely the managers should be aware of what is going on in the store. You make it sound like a known problem for customers. The store I use in Ireland (if forced to go into Tesco not a competitor) specialises in DIY checkout - even worse!

Ah give the poor bastards a break. Have you ever worked on a checkout? I have and it can be fucking awful dehumanising work with customers who don't even make eye-contact, not a single word of please or thank-you all day, and shit wages. Staff morale, therefore, can be somewhat poor.
