On the BBC yesterday it pointed out that the wholesale price was 34p a therm.

1 therm equating to 29.3071 kwh I believe.

Giving a rough price on MG starsaver ( Natural Gas ) of 187.1844p per therm plus a daily charge of 14.954

Giving a total of 202.1384

A ratio of 5.9452 wholesale to home excluding the effects of any advance buying 'strategy'

But then again

Manx gas customers are not paying excessive prices, the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) has concluded. ( http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/is...man/7576382.stm )

Is it not Jersey Gas and makes Millions of pounds profit from how many MANX customers ?

Taking the Piss or what.

They should have been booted out when they let the tanks run out in Ramsey a few years ago and caused Chaos for a week.

Still got the electric heaters the civil defence gave out, they never came to collect them ;)

monopolies ripping off captive Manx conssumers is not exactly unusual - good job we have such an effective government - just think how bad it could get otherwise

Yes. Manx Telecom certainly perked up when Cable and Wireless Sure arrived.

And IOM buses would improve if they had some competition eg small buses in the countryside and shuttle buses to New Noble's Hospital and Ronaldsway Airport.
