La_Dolce_Vita
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/polit...te-1795445.html Here we go, a government minister taking a very selective interpretation of what is considered degrading and commodification and then trying to put a stop to it. She is such a dick. I really can't stand this distorted moralising in respect of sex workers. It should be completely legal and not be comdemned by the government. Chinahand
Should there be any limits to pornography and sex work? Are people saying that pornography can't contain extremely degrading material, and sex workers trapped into their occupation with limited choice? If people are saying every photo or advert that ends up on the internet was taken of, or placed by, a freely participating adult who had other options available, but chose to do what they are doing then ... well ... if you ask me they must have experience of a very limited subset of the "art form" available on the internet. La_Dolce_Vita
My question would be why would there even be cause to set limits? I don't see why prostitution should be vilified as much as it is as seen as some singularly degrading job in comparison with other work.
Amadeus
Maybe she should take a trip to Hamburg? One look at Herbertstrasse in St Pauli would surely make her go insane & be sectioned forever: The Herbertstraße, a short side street of the Davidstraße, has prostitutes behind windows waiting for customers. Unlike De Wallen, the red-light district in Amsterdam, it is closed off with a large gate and juveniles and women are not allowed in. Despite the sign which says women are not allowed to enter the street, it is not officially prohibited, only strongly discouraged by the police. The prostitutes in the Herbertstraße are known to be hostile to those who enter with no intention of paying for sex, "just for a look", even throwing perfume-filled condoms at women. Slim
Maybe she should take a trip to Hamburg? One look at Herbertstrasse in St Pauli would surely make her go insane & be sectioned Been there, and it works ok, but the barriers either side are busy with 'unofficial' prostitutes, who pester you if you look like you're heading towards the official red light bit. Same with Amsterdam too, the official areas are a good idea, but they're a magnet for street drug dealers, pick pockets and street prostitutes who don't want to pay for a window. Good solution, there's a demand in the big cities and there's inevitably going to be supply, but a designated area needs proper policing.
