Moghrey Mie
There was an interesting article in the Independent on Sunday. Apparently banks offer to write wills at discounted prices eg £50 They then nominate themselves as executors and take a slice of the estate on death. It can be as much as 4.5% or £22,500 on an estate of £500,000. One way they get customers is through monthly fee-paying packaged current accounts. The 'personal business managers' are in effect sales people for these will-writing services. If you have already named a bank as executor you can change it and put a relative or trusted friend instead. They can then appoint a solicitor if things are too complicated for them to manage.
