Isn’t one of the bus station proposals part of a private development?

What is the likelihood of the Lord Street site actually being started within the next 6 months, and actually being finished to completion? It will be a miracle if some of the other sites start construction. It would have been easier for IOMG to have taken action over the site instead of it dragging on and on.

Probably zero chance. Further made worse by the fact there is absolutely nothing we can do about it. It's in private ownership and someone is sitting in it and leaving it an abandoned mess of abandoned cars, vans, camper vans.

but the one down the side is usually only ever half full at most.

Are you having a laugh. Send me a photo either side of a morning or evening ferry arrival/ departure.

No way on earth there would be room for buses. Like @Roger Ram says, anyone who thinks you could combine a bus station and ferry terminal on that site is clueless.

Close the car park shown in that photo. Add two or three bus stops. Keep the lord st bus stops. Job done.

Too complicated for our politicos and civil servants. There will also be the obligatory consultations etc, then afterwards the idea will be quietly ditched.

not really , the costa, newsagents and bogs are already in  place , it could become a proper transport  interchange . back in the 70's when i used the old bus station with the cafe and shop most people waited outside under covered shelters, the cafe area / inside was never that busy IIRC ,  the sea terminal would just need to have a fully covered roof over the carpark.

the down side is that normal people picking up and dropping off would have to use the carpark area where the coaches currently wait and staff parking would be almost non existent not currently helped by the upstairs housing government departments that didn't used to be there.

I'd agree if you knocked it all down and redesigned it. As it is now way and no way it's going to be rebuilt.

Next six months? Zero, obviously

When it was sold (for circa £1m) there was a condition that "the separate agreement contains a contractual obligation on the developer to complete its development of the entire site within 36 months of the date of the separate agreement, that is May 4 2020.’" [1]

Which obviously didn't happen (I recall the excuse of COVID around the time although it had clearly failed well before that), so presumably DOI renegotiated it? Have there been any details of this?

The company that has put in for planning, Wyyttavin Limited, is a separate one again, who have an option contingent on planning to buy from 'Lord Street Development SPV Limited'.

All sounds a bit murky - DOI obviously sold cheaply with certain conditions aimed at bringing the development forward in a timely manner - that hasn't happened so where are we left? Is the SPV due to archive a very healthy windfall if planning is achieved, for effectively no risk / use of their own capital beyond the cut price?

So simple and so cheap. So incredibly obvious. Don’t need to change the covered bits. Plenty of space for all six bus stops as on Lord St. virtually all of the buses going to Lord St already go past the sea terminal. Even the horse trams may go there one day.

You are crazy. There isn't even room for 6 taxis never mind 6 buses. I suggest you go down there with you tape measure.

6 buses and then all the taxis and ferry drop off and pick up,l and all the DOI vans and the trike tours and the hire cars and vans....all that same time? Jesus 🙏

Oh and I forgot the isle of man tours coaches and the cruise ships.

Aren't they all down the side carpark?
