I do wonder how you can truly separate State and religion in such a case. I mean, how do you stop foolish religious folk who take a literal interpretation of scripture from being influenced by their own beliefs when making such decisions? In this case, these may be religious people who just need to refer to their authority on matters of morality. However, it is very disconcerting and probably another reason why religion is so damaging that people with such immorality (in my opinion) can be influenced when coming to a decision.

 

Maybe the jurors deserve to be shot in the face. I mean, if idiots are willing to make a decision that could lead to someone going to their death because that is what their silly beliefs dictate then I'd rather know there was one less fool in existence than someone who was protecting themselves.
