When seen by proper folk from the UK. a topper politician saying this sort of thing is probably quite controversial.

I would imagine that someone will simply remove the words from the Hansard record. It is not unusual on the Isle of Man for records to be *ahem* amended.

Eddie is well past seventy now. He was a good politician in his day,and quite fearless.

Many an elderly person in an old folks home can't drive without nearly killing someone, and spends the day wittering on about towels and middle eastern features, I suppose. The only problem is that he's in Legco and is allowed out . Whereas the the elderly witterer in a home is usualy guarded night and day in case he/she does in fact drive into someone/make racist remarks. Or otherwise cause damage.

Just be grateful he doesn't turn up to Legco in his pyjamas and wellies or something.

I believe that more than one of the staff at Nobles who helped saved the sight in my left eye last year were Muslim.

Certainly they were from the Middle East.

I will always be grateful to them.

Then again I do feel it is important to have good eyesight.

Especially if you're driving a car.

Generally speaking, or even have one eye. But say if you can have an 'eye specialist' say in court you have passed the prescribed eyesight test for driving a car then everything is hunky dory.

Probably in broad daylight and something on the lines of "can you read the number plate over there on the wall at the other end of the yard"

We don't usually pay old folk who only seem to rabbit on about sweet stories from the old days, a £1000 or so a week.

Oh yes we do! Have you looked at the members of Tynwald recently? :) It's just the old folk in homes we don't pay.

The island really must vote to get rid of most of Tynpotwald at the earliest opportunity, I just hope people with calibre can be pursuaded to stand. This lot are perhaps the worst I have seen in the last 20yrs.

Did you vote in the last election? Not many did. Apathy rules especially when the choice of candidate is poor. For an island of this size only being able to vote for a few people in the local area makes no sense when there could be a better candidate in the next Parish.

The whole political and governmental system needs a good shake.

I have a plan, revoutionise politics - online referendums over all government business. The government computer boffins would easily be able to make a system by where people could vote about the things the top civil servants want, thus removing the requirement for these expensive, useless relics. In these times of imminent financial meltdown it is wise to use the resources we have, cut out the dead wood and save a massive wedge of cash to boot.

Who would devise the questions ?

So anyhow I something like this in a film. What happens in the end is that everyone gets quickly bored with being asked to vote on everything and there is one last big vote in which they decide to abolish democracy completely. So we might as well just cut to the chase.

One slight flaw, there exists no one here ( according to the Manx government ) capable of producing computery things anywhere close to the sheer perfection of shopiom, so lots of money would have to be paid to off island boffins to produce another such masterpiece.

/sarcasm

As for most MHKS, Legco and associated troughers, they should be killed and their water taken for the tribe
