bluemonday
Local Government Minister John Shimmin has invited the 24 chairmen to a meeting at Ballakermeen High School, 24. 24 chairmen. How the hell can a place of 80 thousand justify 24 chairmen and 24 local authorities?
Amadeus
Local Government Minister John Shimmin has invited the 24 chairmen to a meeting at Ballakermeen High School, 24. 24 chairmen. How the hell can a place of 80 thousand justify 24 chairmen and 24 local authorities? It can't, and what the 24 chairmen don't know is: that's not really a meeting tonight... johnquayleiom
An island population of 80k doesn't need all the various levels of local plus/and national government it currently has. Bin the DTL. They've all been at the trough for far too long. I am very reliably informed the DTL paid Isle of Man Pure produce (group of manx food producers) 20k last year for marketing - 20k was earned by handing out flyers at the bbc good food show. 20k of taxpayers money thrown away. johnquayleiom
Another example of wasted money - appx £4 million spent on a new animal waste plant with the intention of the end product being used to fuel the incinerator. But lo and behold, the incinerator wont take the end product, so IOM GOV still has to put the waste on the boat.
johnquayleiom
How about the Examiner do a multi page spread of all the civil service posts and salaries? No names ofcourse. On top of that, all MHK/MLC related wages and expenses. Plus all gov departmental budget breakdowns. Plus any other relevant stuff. Ask for some real business experts to comment on where they would make the savings and how they would generate cash. Get each MHK/MLC to comment. Nothing may ever come of it, but it would be good for the newspaper circulation. Id second that
bluemonday
I see Ken Dodd is at the Villa on 13th November. Perhaps the Chief Hobbit should have a meeting with him and consult him regarding the establishment of Jam Butty Mines, Snuff Quarries, A Broken Biscuit Repair Works, Treacle Wells and a Moggy Ranch. These enterprises seem to have worked well for Knottyash and would of course fulfil the desire to diversify and expand industry here.
