Manxman27
Lots of cheap xboxes on the market might be great as extenders for media centre.
Rock
banning disables the media extender function though doesn't it?
ans
Yes. Still plays from a library so as someone who runs a TVersity setup, I'd probably look at picking a couple of these up to replace my ageing Xbox1s as media players in my house. ans
Your Banned 360: * Cannot go on Xbox Live * Cannot install games to the HDD * Cannot use Windows Media Centre extender * Cannot be used to get achievements from backups without corrupting your profile
Slim
Yes. The xvid package requires a live subscription, so while you can use tversity, you'd have to force it to transcode everything to wma, which isn't ideal. ans
Ah yeah, good point. In that case I'll stick with the original XBoxes.
devil
PS3's are good for media servers thats all I use mine for, leave the pc on with PS3Media Server and works flawlessly! just using 200mbps powerline plugs, when using large mkv's over wireless there was alot of buffering. jimbms
Not too bad if like the original xbox you can install linux on them and have a nice cheap server. I also remember on those they made an addition where you could by flick of a switch isolate the modchip when online. Seems ther is already a modchip for the ps3 but id you need it for playing US games then why because the ps3 is region free. Seems the best console to mod is the Wii as softmod is very simple and if done correct does not even show when played online.
