Citric Acid

Hi,

Can anyone tell me where to buy Citric Acid powder or granules on the Island, please?

I am looking to make my own fizzy bath bombs, but it is proving hard to find one of the key ingredients anywhere.

I have asked chemists, health shops (in Douglas area) and even called the Brewery, but with no luck. I can get hold of little tubes of it, but at £2.75 I can just about make one bath bomb.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you still can't get hold of any citric acid, you could try Cream of TarTar which is the most common substitute for citric acid. All you have to do is use half as much cream of tartar as you would with the citric acid.

Another substitute although almost equally as difficult to find as citric acid is calcium citrate which is the salt of citric acid and you wouldn't really notice a great deal of difference between the two effects.

Just stay away from sulphuric acid, my 2nd wife suffered some serious side effects whilst I was experimenting on her bath with some different bath bombs... ;)
