La_Dolce_Vita
Went to see this band at the Villa Marine last night. Never been to see any folk music bands and I thought they were excellent. Was really cool to see some people who are so good at what they do and clearly have so much passion. And it's great to see people actually picking up a fiddle or banjo and going for it as opposed to the usual guitar and drums. Would really recommend seeing them. Snaipyr
Glad you enjoyed them. The fiddle player, Tom, is excellent and is only 17. There's various traditional informal music sessions round the Island - the members of the Reeling Stones usually play at the one at The Mitre in Ramsey on Friday nights. If you want to see more folk/traditional music then Shennaghys Jiu is on very soon (http://www.shennaghys.org/) and Yn Chruinnaght in July has a brilliant Irish band called Beoga coming over. The Red Hot Chilli Pipers from Scotland will be on at The Villa the same week. I expect tickets for Beoga will go quick.
