But also they fought multiple nasty wars and if the responsibility for those conflicts was shared out the Serbs would end up holding a fair chunk of it. Anyone with the slightest grasp of history knew that once Tito went the whole lot would degenerate into exactly what we saw. Shame on the UN for doing nothing to stop it when everyone saw it coming.
