The MoH BETA was shit.

If you've been waiting for someone – anyone! – to challenge Bungie's heretofore uncontested dominance in online multiplayer features, you'll want to watch this video for Treyarch's Call of Duty: Black Ops. Sure, Modern Warfare 2 wins if you're looking at the numbers, but anyone familiar with Halo 3's excellent Forge and Theater modes knows they should expect more from the top franchise in multiplayer gaming.

This "multiplayer teaser" doesn't reveal much, but here's what we spotted: remote-detonated RC cars; a "ballistic" knife; and, most notably, a video recording and editing feature. Pore over the roughly 90-second video and let us know what you spot. Expect a "full multiplayer reveal" on September 1.

Treyarch is considering releasing a beta-build test, and has hinted that it is likely.

Matchmakin g is being changed so that it is easier for friends to play together.

Some campaign levels will be based off multiplayer maps instead of the typical vice-versa. This change is because some multiplayer maps had been made before the campaign was finalized.

Create- A-Class 2.0 will allow players to customize their appearance in addition to their loadout.

Customize d killstreaks will return, but the game-ending Tactical Nuke will not. Kills earned from killstreak rewards will not count towards increasing a player's killstreak.

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 perks Commando and One Man Army are not going to return.[10]

The PC version of Call of Duty: Black Ops will feature dedicated servers.[11]

Shotguns and Machine Pistols as secondary weapons are not expected to return, as Treyarch stated in an interview that they give the player "too much firepower".

Call of Duty: Black Ops will let the player record demos ingame, which could be done in pre-MW2 PC Call of Duty games.[12]

Sentry gun-like cameras (Camera Spike): Detects enemy nearby on your radar. If you have placed the Camera Spike, the camera's live feed replaces your radar. (Enemies will appear thermal-white in the camera.)

3 killstreaks: A remote-controlled buggy that can drive everywhere and explode when detonated by user.

4 killstreaks: Care Package (Black in color.)

5 killstreaks: Something like Predator Missile called the Ark Angel but you can control it freely, guide it every where you want. (Not only straight down to the ground.)

Unknown Killstreak: An unknown type of Helicopter.

Unknow n Killstreak: An unknown Air Strike (possiby an F4 Phantom or a prototype Harrier)

Weapon Camouflages: Woodland, Arctic and Desert.

Ballistic Knife: Can be shot and reloaded.

You can now take out your knife and use it, not only stab it like in other Call of Duty titles.

Grenades like Semtex (Stickable).

New Function: Players can now record, manage, edit and upload in-game video clips.

New Maps: Launch and Summit

Explosive Crossbow weapon is in Multiplayer. Unlike in Singeplayer, it does not have a scope by default, though it may be a possible attachment.

Bling, or a perk like it, returns; the Commando at the start of the trailer has a silencer and a sight.

The Crossbow will be a secondary weapon in the multiplayer of Call of Duty: Black Ops.

There appears to be some type of 'UAV Ball', like in Battlefield: Bad Company, which show red dots on the radar in a small radius. This can be seen at around 1:05 in the Multiplayer teaser.

Treyarch has confirmed that it will be close to impossible to use any kind of mods in Call of Duty: Black Ops

It seems that the player will have the ability to perform a diving roll. This can be seen at around 0:37 in the multiplayer teaser.

The smiley face on the Red Dot Sight and engraving on the Commando (weapon) are most likely features of Create-a-Class 2.0]

With the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops just a few months away, Activision has announced new and elaborate special editions to sit alongside the regular package. The ultimate package (again dubbed the Prestige Edition) comes with a working RC car complete with a camera that provides TFT color video and audio to its operator. You might recognize it as an unarmed replica of the vehicle seen in the game's multiplayer trailer.

In addition to the perv mobile, you'll get the pictured Black Ops medallion (not to be confused with a Medal of Honor), an exclusive Xbox Live Avatar outfit and four co-op multiplayer maps. The Hardened Edition will include everything listed above, with the exception of the RC car.

£130! :o

Or you could just get the VTS camera car with head tracking camera control.

According to the rumours, which come from a good source supposedly, dedicated servers will be part of the subscription service.

ETA _ PC is suppose to have dedi servers as standard, not sure how true that will be though

OK, you'll have to treat this as just a rumour on the main page because I am not able to reveal the source however it should put some minds at ease with regard to the pay to play service planned for the latest call of duty game. What I was told was DON'T PANIC. You will still be able to play the game online for free, but the new premium service will bring things like advance map packs before the others, exclusive maps and equipment, and early beta access to the next CoD. There is even the consideration to provide dedicated servers that allow additional players in multiplayer games.

Didnt Josh Olin already quash any subscription rumors?

Yes PC is said to have dedicated servers (no word on consoles) and zombies is supposed to be making a comeback (maybe the co-op maps included with the hardened and prestige editions?)

I think he may have said it wouldn't be required to play online, which according to this its not seems like a system like PSN+ this info was only published earlier this week so is newer than any previous denial, and it hasn't been rebuked by anyone involved yet.

Seen as people are willing to pay £15 for 3 new maps and 2 tarted up old ones I'm sure they will make a killing if they implement it.

For the first time ever, Call of Duty is getting its own offline multiplayer Bot mode called Combat Training. This mode uses a completely independent rank progression, which you can play alone or with friends. Consider this a new opportunity to train before you test your skills online.

Tier 1 perks also now impact how your character looks in the game. Flak Jacket, for example, makes you look like the dude from Hurt Locker.

Two new Killstreak special weapon care packages were shown; a chain gun called the Death Machine and a missile launcher called the Grim Reaper. Other kill streaks include napalm strike, rc-xd (remote controlled car), gunship, mortars, and a SAM turret to shoot down gunships.

A new form of in-game currency is now being added called "CP" or CoD Points. Players will earn money as they play that they can then use to unlock weapons. CoD Points can not be purchased with real money.

CP is an extra layer on top of the already robust leveling system in past Call of Duty games. It doesn't replace it. In fact, it makes it deeper and more involved than ever before.

You will still have to unlock many things by leveling up, and even after you do you'll find that not everything can be purchased with COD Points right off the bat. Some weapons only become available for purchase after the player has obtained others. The best sniper rifle, for example, was locked until I purchased all of the others in its class. Everything costs points, too, straight down to little emblems that you can use in customizing the look of your rifle or player card.

Players can also take time limited challenges called Contracts to earn some dough. The three contract categories are Mercenary, Operations, and Specialist. Mercenary rewards players for kills and kill streaks, Operations are for team players, and Specialists are for unique play styles.

Challenges are a big part of what makes Call of Duty such an addictive multiplayer game. They're back, but now there are Contracts to top them off. These are rotating challenges offered by Treyarch, changing every day or week. To partake in them, you'll have to pony up a few COD Points to buy the Contract. Complete the challenge and you'll win extra points. There is a catch -- each Contract has a time limit. A low level one for example will require you to get three SMG kills without dying in less than 40 minutes of game time. It will cost 50 COD Points and, upon completing it, you will received 250 back.

Fail at completing a Contract and you'll have to wait at least 24 hours to try again. And you'll be out of some COD Points.

Gambling has arrived in the form of a new mode called Wager Match where players can bet CoD points. The top three players split the winnings. This mode includes four new game types:

One in the Chamber -- Players will start with pistols only, one bullet, and three lives. If you kill someone you get a bullet.

Sticks and Stones -- Players start with a crossbow and a ballistic knife, and a tomahawk. If a player is killed with a tomahawk they go bankrupted.

Gun Game -- All players start with pistol, and every kill gives you a better weapon. First one to progress through the weapons wins. If you get knifed you get reset a level.

Sharp Shooter -- All players start with the same randomly selected weapon. Weapons cycle, but everyone has the same weapon.

Treyarch also went in-depth with an all-new weapon customization system.

Players will now be able to attach custom made emblems and decals onto their weapons, and attach custom targeting reticules (such as a red smiley face dot). Players will be able to edit, rotate, and scale images to place on all of the weapons they've unlocked.

Lastly, Theater Mode was shown, allowing players to record clips and create screenshots to tag and share with friends online. The camera can be switched between first and third person perspectives as well as free roam.

It's one thing to put a Theater Mode into your games. It's quite another to rival even the current industry leaders at Bungie, but that's exactly what Treyarch is doing with Call of Duty: Black Ops. All of the standards are there -- a free roaming camera that can also lock on to players, clip and screenshot export, the ability to fast forward or rewind the action, and the option to browse your friend's shared files. There's also a whole lot more.

You can save segments and then clip them together and slow down or speed up the game speed while recording. Up to 100 of your most recent games over the past 7 days are saved automatically for you to later watch and edit. The timeline displayed during theater mode indicates all the kills int eh match, a green mark for a kill, and a red mark for when you died, allowing you to quickly skip to the interesting parts of the match. The tools look super powerful -- both for the casual player that wants to know where jerks are camping and for the hardcore machinima maker.
