grrr no dhss. why do people say that?

sorry rant over

I've often wondered that. Do the DSS give you the rent money, or do they pay direct to the landlord? I'd have no qualms about such tenants, after all one only needs to collect the rent, one isn't obliged to socialise by lazing around with them watching Jeremy Kyle all day. Whilst politely avoiding mention of the curious stains on their 'tracky bottoms'.

I think the problem is the DHSS give the rent to the tenant, who often doesn't pay the landlord, hence the 'no DHSS' after being caught out

I find that quite crazy, you would think the DHSS would pay the rent directly to the land lord. OMG let me get this right, I could get me a council house, go on the dole and the government would give me rent money & I could decided not to pay my rent to the council if I felt like it....That is mad. Is that really the way it works? Sure there's worse than that goes on though.

It can be organised so that the rent goes directly to the Landlord but if you do fall into the category of 'low lifes' then theres a chance they can receive the money on the promise of paying the rent and end up keeping the money and unfortunately theres not alot the Landlord can do about it... Well, straight away

Thankfully I am totally self sufficient but is the winter heating allowance somewhere in the £ 150 region ?

If so, I'm not sure "blowing" it on Christmas goodies could be described as a "spree". And if they want to go cold as a sacrifice for thus, surely that's their business ? It's Christmas, after all. Let them eat cake ...
