The Old Git
Can anyone recommend a decent free online album type thing that you can image link to? It'd be nice to be able to upload photos somewhere easily and be able to link to them from other sites so you can easily show people your pics. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Someone on CiX rates http://www.photobucket.com/
simon
An interesting Observer article about William Eggleston who is one of my favorite photographers. at 65, William Eggleston is perhaps the most innovative American photographer of the past 50 years whose unique style has transformed the way we look at the world. His influence on our visually led contemporary popular culture is now so pervasive that it goes unnoticed. In fashion shoots and films, advertising and art photography, Eggleston's everyday view of things, initially dismissed by critics in the mid-Seventies, is now the prevalent aesthetic. La_Dolce_Vita
What is the best way to get started taking snaps? For the complete novice what sort of camera would be best to get. I was thinking of saving up to buy a digital camera but not sure if that would be the best? Appreciate any advice.
The Old Git
I'd definitely go for digital rather than film. You can see the results instantly and can experiment with various settings and not have to pay out a load for film and processing. What type of digital camera to get? What are you wanting to photograph? Do you want an easily pocketable, but fairly basic point and shoot camera? A slightly bigger camera that can still be P&S but has more setting to try, or maybe a DSLR which is more flexible still A few years ago DSLRs were very expensive but you can buy a damn good one now for about 600 quid

Or haunted? I used photobucket for a while, but I hated the layout, Flickr makes me feel like I'm young, and maybe even a little hip. Not that this is an empty attempt to advertise my flickr account or anything. link ahoy! Ok. It was exactly that.
