It stays there (with ident) until, presumably the connection drops, and a new IP address is assigned ... just want to keep my IRC settings working properly without having to check Control panel all the time. Im using a modem / router. The network settings usually stay fine for days at a time then just disapear. (Control Panel .. Network Connections .. Internet Connection ..Settings).
