Call Out Charges

Have asked this question as part of another thread but with no response so hopefully someone can give an answer here.

 

For future reference what can I expect to pay for an out of hours/emergency call-out charge for a plumber or electrician on the island ?

Dunno, but I'd not be surprised to be charged £100-£150 call out for an emergency job. Not nice but they've got you by the danglies and not having hot water in January isn't fun.

im in that line of business and dont charge any call out charge unless at night. many lads out of wor at the moment so dont pay call out fees.

Taz was referring to out of hours calls and charges.

most legitimate plumbing/heating companies or sole traders after 7pm weekdays or weekends would charge approx £70 - £80 for the first hour, then approx £30 per hour there after. Dont forget to add vat @ 5% for domestic or 20% commercial.

A doctor calls a plumber in the middle of the night.

‘Why are you ringing me at this hour?’ says the plumber.

‘Look, it’s an emergency,’ says the doctor. ‘If it was the other way round you’d expect me to come out, wouldn’t you?’

‘Okay,’ says the plumber. ‘What’s the problem?’

‘The toilet’s broken,’ says the doctor.

The plumber says, ‘Give it two aspirin and call me again if it’s no better in the morning.’
