FCMR
Its been aledged that a firm (a Manx Firm ) employed in the building industry on the IOM has laid of six local men and started six replacements from Portugal. This is what the situation is in the Channel Islands, why have or have the Government give them permits. They are labourers.

monkey_magic
I read on these forums that Manx builders turn up too drunk to work on Mondays. Probably best to get foreigners in that case, they'll obviously do a better job.

FCMR
MR FCMR what a cheek LOL arent you actively involved in some properties in Spain advertised by yourself as being built by a Manx Builder. What about the poor Spanish!!!!!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, its my mate that has them for sale and under Spanish law he can not build them, they have to be built by Registered Spanish Builders and thats whats being done. My mate is just overseeing the works and putting the finishing touches to the gardens ect. The Government of the Isle of Man are not helping the Building trades, At the Incinerator they have brought in a painting contractor from Liverpool, Manx firms were not even given the chance to price for the work. ( and it aint specialist work). they are doing this knowing that Manx contractors are laying men off due to a shortage of work. The Incinerator was built by Government with taxpayers money, by allowing a Liverpool firm to do the painting the DHSS and Treasury get nothing back, if a Local contractor was to do the works at least 40% would be paid back to Government in tax and NI. Darth Vader
Just to add a bit of skeet. During the foot and mouth crisis when people were banned from walking in the countryside, the DTI and the DHSS under the control of Alex Downie and Claire Christian, banned their respective inspectors from visiting the hospital building site. The real reason for this ban was not because of foot and mouth infection, because lorries and stuff were pouring off the boat each day and travelling to the hospital site....the real reason was that the DTI and the DHSS wanted the thing built as quickly as possible due to the Crowe EPH scandal and therefore were happy to block inspectors visiting the site for the wrong reasons while work permit and other legislation was being breached. As a just reward Downie has been rescued from the House of keys to to sit with his buddy Claire (Kerruish) on LEGCO. I could write a book about the bloody scandals on this island.
