Moghrey Mie
Sad to see David Cameron touting his wares especially to a country that banned 'land, sea and air forces, as well as other war potential' after the Second World War. http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2012/apr/10/david-cameron-japan-defence-contracts
manshimajin
Traditionally the UK was a big supplier of military equipment to Japan. In particular this was naval equipment and naval training of its officer corps. A trip to Cragside, Lord Armstrong's home in Northumberland, demonstrates the links that existed. The self-defense forces that have been operational in Japan post WWII have modern equipment including a modern airforce and a largish navy. Including reserves the JSDF has about 300,000 personnel. The volatile North Korean situation has made the Japanese much more aware of defense issues.

Evil Goblin
I would suggest he goes to downtown Homs to see the latest results of his trade mission. I believe the big arms supplier to Assad and Co. is Russia.

I believe the big arms supplier to Assad and Co. is Russia. I believe Assad and Co have every right to try and stop their country becoming another Libya and if they have to use weapons supplied from Russia to stop these NATO-backed 'rebels' using their country as a stepping stone to the bigger prize, Iran, then so be it. Wet and Windy
I would suggest it is BAE and would also suggest that Afganistan is being fought over a direct path to the lucrative oil wells and wealth and control (russia - failed funnily enough so have britain) that such wells forgo and has little to do with their pretty flowers.
