andrew
From the press release that went out, didn't it say that the damage and abuse was to the shore staff and building, once the foot passengers were booted off the boat back into the passenger terminal???That woman wasn't there at that point - she was busy driving up to Heysham!

Tempus Fugit
they're running a bit behind schedule again tonight, just leaving the Mersey now seems to be slowly following cruise liner Ruby Princess at walking speed :-( Edited August 30, 2014 by Tempus Fugit
thommo2010
That woman being interviewed says that when it looked like they were going nowhere she got her daughter to check hotel availability in case they needed to stay over. So despite having somewhere to stay she decides to drive to heysham despite it in her words being dangerous? She is just whinging for whinging sake. Funny to hear she was already writting a complaint about another sailing she had.

Couldn't listen beyond 2 minutes. Moan moan moan moan moan moan. Why can't Manx Telecom sort out their video feed so it doesn't buffer every 5 seconds? It's like going back to the old 56k dial-up modem days FFS.

Tempus Fugit
I was waiting for her battery to run out but must have been on duracell fancy working with someone who rabbits like that all day if she thinks driving to Heysham is dangerous perhaps she should take the train next time Edited August 31, 2014 by Tempus Fugit
monasqueen
Those who are complaining about the moaning and whingeing clearly weren't personally affected. If you want to get home, and there's a chance of doing it via Heysham, you go. That's what we did. The danger was probably related to the fact that none of us appear to have been told that Ben was being delayed by an hour. Had we known that, we would not have felt the need to drive hell for leather to try and get to Heysham before the time that we expected check-in to close. We would have looked up a hotel ourselves if we'd ended up in the fracas that apparently took place in the sea terminal. The only difference is that we have not offered ourselves for interview by MTV, Manx Radio, or the papers. We have not kept our views to ourselves, however, and Steam Packet management have been made aware of our views. All done without tempers being lost. hmc
Complete and utter over reaction by Jackie Betteridge. Her interview was in my view atrocious! I was on the Mannanan on Monday and whilst the technical hitch was a real pain, to be fair, I thought the Captain did a pretty good job of keeping people informed what was going on. Foot passengers without checked in luggage were given the opportunity to disembark well before those with checked in luggage or vehicles. I am not aware that anyone who then travelled up to Heysham didn't get on and there seemed enough room on the car deck. I was informed when getting off the Mannanan that the Heysham boat was being held for us. Having had a wander round the boat I would describe it as pretty busy but not full. Am not a huge supporter of the Steam Packet and whilst I can not comment of the arrangements for foot passengers (I do recall the Captain talking of getting hotels) I can't knock the Captain for the way in which he kept passengers informed about what was going on. We were all offered a free drink and before the foit passengers disembarked they were offered free food. Difficult situation for all I guess but given the circumstances I thought they probably did as much as they could.
thommo2010
I wasn't there but have in the past been let down by travel disruption. You get on with it. The way some of the people are going on you would think they had been stranded in the gaza strip with no hope of getting home.
