Steam Packet Warns Of Disruption To Sailings

The same criticisms were directed at the Ben when it was new - it was "too big for the ports, can't go out in more than a light breeze" etc.

It takes a while for a boat's crew and the ports to get used to them.

Still not going to get anything out in a force 10 though.

Isn't the Liverpool terminal supposed to be mainly for the fast craft?

No, the new landing stage will (in theory) accommodate all of the ferries- Manxman will serve it in winter.

The current landing stage can’t accommodate either of the conventional ferries, which is why the Ben sailed to Birkenhead in winter.

So if the fast craft service  is terminated , the new  passenger terminal  in Liverpool will certainly be a massive white elephant ,especially as you cant operate a freight  or night time service from there ,

but the FOI's show the government and steam packet have been discussing withdrawal of the fast craft for ages , then we are told she is likely no to be able to comply with  new emission standards   anyway ,

so how the hell have we not pulled the plug on this berth in Liverpool ages ago and in meantime    built the  Olympic Torch  AKA Manxman  that practically never goes out in wind or after dark ,

some serious questions to be asked here  !!!!

Obviously another Facebook warrior who doesn’t read steam packet updates as to why ManxMan is doing the sailings she is but relies on rumors from Facebook or man in pub

Can't do a night service? Where did you get this conclusion from?

Presumably the Manxman is going to make an empty run to Heysham.

Wonder why it could not take the pax of the cancelled sailings?.

She’s been floating around off Anglesey. Had to leave Douglas around 07.20 this morning due to the wind/storm. Couldn’t have got into Heysham until things calmed down.
