It’s already in service. It’s the only boat timetabled until March. Winter too rough for Mannanan. Ben tied up in Belfast. Arrow up in Stornaway on charter to CalMac. It may be an interesting winter. There's a long gap in the timeline for most of that year, which will be partly explained by Covid slowing down the yard's construction line That isn’t borne out by your link. A huge amount was done in the period late August to December 2021. Modern building is a bit like assembling something out of Lego or putting together a prefab. The building blocks were cut and started to be put together in sections in that 4 month period. Enormous amount of work. Full structure plans must have been in place by, at latest, August 2021. Banker
Rang steam packet re next years timetables & they say unsure but they’ve been told to expect middle of November, reservations team didn’t know reason for delays
Frances
my own guess is that the harbour turnaround + loading times for the Manxman are causing timekeeping difficulties added to which is added the as yet untested new Liverpool terminal - not sure when they will be able to get any berthing trials + experience until Manannan is back and capable sometime next March - thus timetabling must be either very conservative or subject to rewrites next spring

Nom de plume
Can somebody please clarify the expected daily rotation for the Manxman? Given no freight can be loaded or discharged in LPL, are we thinking a morning departure to Liverpool, afternoon return then evening departure to Heysham & overnight Douglas return to accommodate freight? I'm quite confused by the mixed signalling and lack of definitive scheduling. Edited November 2, 2023 by Nom de plume

Won't it just go back to the old rota. 2 a day on weekdays to Heysham, then an out and back the Liverpool on weekends only. Overnight sailings to Heysham? Dunroamin
Not sure if previously mentioned but on Manxman at moment outside Heysham where we have virtually stopped while a PILOT GETS ON BOARD? WTF? it is a great boat, from what we have seen, other than two types of cabin we have now tried are incredibly uncomfortable and not worth paying for - bring back the Ben!!
