Of course, in those days the 2 boats only did a one way sailing every day in winter. 09.00 from IoM and 11.00 from Liverpool. And only 6 days a week. When I worked on the Lady, we had one night where it was rough and Captain Albiston said “I’d have a go if it was daytime but you can’t see the fuckers at night” referring to the waves. So we stayed in Liverpool. Had other sailing where it was a force ten and it was smooth as anything because the wind was behind us.
