If the employees are not on a zero-hour contract then they'll be paid.

Either way, we've still got the Armslength Steam Rackets work to rule coming up too. Add in a bit more bad weather and it doesn't bode well for hospitality or any other business relying on frequent deliveries with fresh produce.

Not to mention off-island post as there is no longer a mail plane.

On the bright side, think of the reduction in CO2 emissions and at least the reservoirs should be full again by now.

The joy of living on an island. To be honest, I really don't miss all that crap.

Can you see the headlines if the Manxman was out of action TT week with just the Arrow and the Seacat and even a few days of rough weather to boot?

But that's no different to how we were last year.... And the year before and the previous 20 or so. You forgot about the Manannan. Doesn't make sense to keep the ship we have just replaced just in case the new one breaks down.  That's crazy expensive.

I think the difference is that due to the weather related constraints causing restriction at Heysham there are more cancellations likely from Mxn than there were from the Ben.

Mxn has no problem with dealing with the Irish Sea per se; but its larger size and design makes it vulnerable to adverse weather conditions entering Heysham whereas Ben would not be similarly affected. Only time will tell but I've heard a few things from Steamie shore personnel that would support this.

This sea route is our lifeline and our tourism mainstay. One hopes that everything was considered when choices were made.
