It looks like she got rammed from behind, but that might be taken in the wrong way.

our captains can reverse into things just as well as going forwards.

Not yet. But its coming. COC was on radio this morning saying practice was unlikely today

They announced no practice today earlier on.

Might as well just cancel the event for this year.  They can’t get people here anyway and there is unlikely to be much, if any racing.

The good news though is that those MGP visitors who cant get here wont be missing anything.

Might be lucky enough to be able to claim it off their travel insurance. Won't lose money on what would have been a rubbish visit anyway.

Yes the Ben will be doing the run between Heysham and the island apparently for the next "few" days. The Manxman crashed whilst docking. I know this because my husband delivers the food and supplies to all the crossings from the island.

To make things worse:

Today's Liverpool crossings are off

Today’s Manannan sailings have been cancelled due to strong winds.

The Steam Packet Company says they are causing ‘significant wave heights’ which are in excess of safe limits.

It's cancelled the 3pm crossing to Liverpool and its return journey (21 August).

The Ben was already taking the freight for the Manxman, so bringing on the Arrow to take over that from the Ben seems sensible, so as to increase the passengers and especially vehicles that can be brought over.

As someone said, this all makes the plan to sell of the Ben look even more foolish, but I can't help wondering if the more concentrated MGP schedule could also be making things worse.

The Ben was going to take over from Manxman anyway in a couple of weeks as Manxman needed to go in for an annual checkup - looks as tho that will be brought forward if possible - maybe it is for occasions like this that the management insisted on crew living on board.

Once the MGP 'rush' is over the Ben can easily handle the usual winter season - if the bad weather is a feature of global warming then Mannanan's season looks to be shortened in future
