swoopy2110
Interesting that one of the questions in their little survey asks about Manxman sailing to Liverpool year round instead of Heysham. Obviously a lot more maneuvering room. But what about the freight ?! Maybe their grand plan will be to get the user agreement amended to get rid of a fastcraft and then get another (smaller) ferry to operate Heysham with freight in the long run, so Manxman can go to Liverpool year round
Kopek
Although the latest change of dock cannot be blamed on the SP, unless it was the 'bump' into the Dock which necessitated the change.............. It really is another failure of 'our' lifeline to provide the service we require, expect and are paying millions for!!! It's hard to decipher the truth from the SP statements and the actuality??? It just doesn't seem to be a lifeline service???

Except it won’t. They’ve a Heysham schedule to adhere to for freight. IoM is plugged into the North West logistics delivery network. Stuff for Monday morning fresh shopping has to be at Heysham late on Sunday evening to get the 02.15 back and be distributed and on the IoM shelves by 08.00. Of course they may use Arrow, rather than charter it out, but that requires a much earlier Heysham departure time, which doesn’t work, and would make a huge hole in the anticipated/budgeted/hoped for £2 million a year charter income. Liverpool is a scheduled 1h45m turnaround on Saturdays and Sundays right through until January. Depart IoM 08.00 Arrive Liverpool 12.15. Depart Liverpool 14.00 Arrive IoM 18.15 on Saturdays and Sundays.
lfc84
Seems this is a general thread about all things steam packet rather than schedule disruption. So here's my rant... Looked at getting to the north west on a Sunday in October for a day trip. No boat to Liverpool Sunday morning. Heysham isn't an option due to rail engineering on the route. Boat back is too early. No flights from IOM that morning to north west. Flight back is too early. That makes it 2 nights away for something that really should be doable. The steam packet have lot to learn.if only the steam packet came back at 8pm.... That would at least resolve the issues in one direction Edited September 3 by lfc84
Lilly
I was returning to iom on Friday after a week at Centre Parcs with all of my 4 grandchildren, l'm glad to report the return trip was really good, l was really impressed with the lovely new boat and staff in the Barrule lounge were brilliant, there was loads of snacks and free soft drinks for them. I was initially worried after hearing such negative feedback,so was pleasantly surprised and pleased. The boat was a bit late docking, however, through out the journey the Captain gave regular updates.

Barlow
Acually rants can have the desired effect. I think an important thing though, is to sort out likes of capitalization in your message, especially when addressing the company involved. Otherwise the message is likely in the bin before it's even been read. ETA: apologies, my own pet hate rant. monasqueen
Does anyone know whether any ship other than Manannan actually fits at Liverpool? Even Manannan doesn't fit properly a lot of the time, and they had to build a bit of scaffolding on the front for low tides.

It’s timetabled every Saturday and Sunday from 2nd week November. And they’re flogging weekend breaks, including Liverpool theatre breaks.

lfc84
Cancelled tonight sue to wind in Heysham. Once Manxman has done berthing trials in Liverpool will they reroute to Liverpool instead on the occasions when it's deemed to windy in Heysham? No. It's not just windy in Heysham, it's windy all the way up the Irish sea.
