Well obviously only a complete idiot would do that unless you’re just picking up something

By the time you’ve walked into town you’ll have to turn around and walk back.

has anyone told them there’s a brand new stadium being built next door and they’ll be regular Saturday football there next year.

With very few games at 3pm , most fans will either fly or stay overnight, many do the early morning boat back from Heysham

If they had any commercial sense they'd look at the Everton and Liverpool fixtures and make slight adjustments. Particularly so, for the 430pm Sunday matches

I doubt you can just change sailing schedules to fit in with tv schedules which change constantly, that’s a non starter

Changing 1915 to 1945 or 2000 would be sufficient and could be made permanent to avoid adhoc changes

Yup.

I saw your comment about the changes for the Chelsea game in October before it was edited. I'm not going to go to that one, as you say it will require 2 overnight stays due to our crap transport to the North West on a Sunday morning. Can't even get up to Heysham for the overnight boat due to the rail works which I would sometimes do. Too expensive !

Difficult to do day trips when the sailing is 4.25 hours each way.

the Lady of Man was able to give plenty of time ashore on Saturdays with a four hour crossing.

they used to cater for the football crowd then with 11.00am arrival at the landing stage and a 7.00pm departure some times delayed if the local game was a late kick off.  it could be done then why not now.  Christmas shopping was another possible late departure.  The John Lennon concert at the Pier Head another example, The Monas Queen departed after the concert ended, about 10.30 pm I think.

But the Manxman has to do two return sailings a day. It couldn't do that if it was sat on the dock in Liverpool where just a handful of twerps watch their respective 'teams'. Even if one of those teams is reasonably successful now and again.

Quite. Plus, whether it does 1 or 2 rotations daily, the important one is the 02.15 Monday to Saturday mornings  to get stuff on the supermarket shelves for 08.00 and the post over.

Remember, before Manx Line, in winter, 5 months of the year, the SPCo did a trip to Liverpool every morning at 09.00 with a trip from Liverpool at 11.00. Crossing at the bar at midday.

In summer there were all sorts of long day trips ( in each direction ). You could depart Liverpool at 23.30 or 02.00 TT Senior Race day and go back after a full day viewing at 17.00, 18.00, 19.00. But then we had many more boats.

So from November to March ( when it’s not Mannanan ) what is going to happen to the 02.15 from Heysham to put stuff on the shelves.

Timings have a nock on effect unless you lose a sailing in the essential freight schedule.

Your suggestion only has relevance for less than half the FL season, 1/2 August, September, October, April and one week of May. Less than half the season.
