Its all revolving around this, everyone is buying up guns and ammo in the USA at the minute and is massively revolving around the zombie theme, I'll let the guys below explain but it really makes you wonder if some of this is related to encouraging people to panic spend their cash???. Ps, I don’t think even these guys expected something like the recent Miami event however!. That's really got people going and its going to make US made firearms even harder to source. Mossberg shotguns for example are impossible to get at the minute, Mossberg literally cant make enough - fast enough to meet demand!. The Firearm industry has literally been untouched by the economic upset, in fact its booming.

The US is one place you couldn't pay me to set foot inside ever again.

You and me both. When my passport expires later next year I'll not renew it (assuming I am back on the rock by then). Failing that I'll write an anonymous letter to Homeland Security.

I just had a fortnights holiday there and had a whale of a time.

Planning on doing Route 66 (or whats left of it) next year.

That figures.

Oh sorry does my having a fun holiday not fit in with your snarly stereotyping?

What ever.

I would like go from East to West but via Canada using the most northern routes, maybe even by train.

I have distant relatives in Canada who I must visit sometime.

Did that a couple of years ago and would love to do it again when I've retired and have more time.

Also did the PCH from Seattle to San Francisco and would love to finish off the west coast down to San Diego.

Got the Billy Connolly DVD of his his trip along Ol' 66. There are some really interesting places when you get off the main Interstate. And of course I'm going to make the detour in New Mexico to Roswell.

Got the Billy Connolly DVD of his his trip along Ol' 66.

I watched that and was quite surprised that he saw loads of things that we didn't see, but then we saw loads that he didn't, or at least weren't included in the programme.

The thing is, there isn't one clearly defined Route 66 as it doesn't really exist any more. In some parts it's under the main interstate, in others it runs along side it. Sometimes it miles away from the interstate, running through small ghost towns. There's also multiple variations in parts as the original route changed over the years. We did 26 miles on a rough dirt road once as we followed one variation of the route. There's just so much to stop off and see as you drive from Chicago to Los Angeles that the three weeks we spend on it still wasn't enough to stop and see it all.

We've planned it so we spend a night in a hotel in Chicago, 14 days driving and then a night in a hotel in LA.
