What!?!?!?!?

The substitution of "of" for "have" (or I think people are more likely to be using it as a substitute for " 've" rather than "have" ) is so widespead in the UK that it's as common as having had Covid.

You've obviously been living on the IoM too long otherwise you would of realised your error...

Sorry Old Stick but I've actually seen it written on an IOM government public message: "could of" instead of "could have". I've never seen that written anywhere else except here, on Mann.

Sorry - I misunderstood.

You've actually seen it written on an IoM government public message?

OK.  I doubt that's happened in the UK.  Only in the IoM...

It was a regular public notice as I recall seeing it more than once (obviously a cut and paste job without any editing), that's why I thought it was a peculiarly Manx thing.

Every TT there are a large number of serious accidents up there, with people doing excessive speeds on an open road, that's little more than a narrow mountain pass. The governments own statistics show dozens of serious injuries and a few fatalities every year. And our solution to this situation? Ban cyclists... Yeah, that'll help...

They aren’t accidents they are collisions.
Banning cyclists for the two weeks ( if not for longer) certainly reduces the potential for more fatalities, and serious injuries to themselves and others.

I have come across them on the mountain three abreast in fog no lights.

So yes banning cyclists will indeed help

I'm sure a heavily policed speed limit would be more effective in reducing the woeful serious RTC statistics than banning cyclists. Lets face it - most cyclists don't go up there even when it's not TT. The high number of collisions is mostly due to excessive speed. You can argue about that if you want. It won't change the truth though.
