Which would be fine if they weren't elevated above us legally. Because they are, they need to be considerably better than the average member of the public. And often aren't, because it's a profession that attracts people who fancy themselves as bullies (and people who want to do good, but you only need a handful of the former for it to create a large problem).

Agree. That is why as a society we must always have careful scrutiny over those in positions of authority and power-The old ,  “ Quis cusdodiet ipsos custodes?” - who guards the guards?

For two weeks of the year some of them get to be rock and roll coppers. Plenty of overtime, fast cars and nice toys, high adrenaline and quick response. 'We're the Sweeney son and we haven't 'ad our dinner'

The police used to 'calm' the visiting fans, like a sensible parent. Now they just wind them up.

I beg to differ. I doubt the Cinderella tableau enacted, photographed and placed on social media by the  the police when a visiting biker lost his boot would have happened in the case of a local biker losing their footwear.

Anyone know why the mountain was closed for several hours last night? Haven't heard anything.

There are fresh accident markings at the Douglas end of the Mountain Mile and damage to the bank on the LH side, Douglas-bound.

Yesterday morning there was a red hatchback off onto the bank at Keppel Gate and this morning a small, bronze coloured hatchback on the field at the inside of Windy Corner.

If you and Amadeus teamed up we could do away with all the local news sources.

If you want another, over the weekend somebody managed to demolish the garden wall at Cruickshanks on May Hill in Ramsey....looks like a straight on job or expiry of talent allotment....

It’s been pretty well cleared up now.

There is still a joke on the wall but the rubble has gone, as has the car that was on the drive that had its window smashed.

Good effort in a 30

Are we allowed to hear the joke?
