There doesn't seem to be much sign of further landslip though the wall is definitely new though, I'm on that road at least once a day and they just had air fencing and cones during the races and the summer. Are we sure that the landslip wasn't further up the mountain though? 🤔

Be surprised if it wasn’t there. But guessing if only temporary fence in place and there was a small sip , easily cleared up , that they didn’t take the opportunity and excuse to shut the road and get it done. Doubt there’s two work gangs up there bearing in mind they have no money effectively .!

From a major contractor who is working there.... yes, Waterworks.

Well, from these pics posted on FB progress is moving apace and the wall is certainly substantial.

Weird bonding pattern going on there, no support piers either!

it's called slack arse bond without a string line for height,  must be about time for the VIP viewing grandstand to built on top of it all now then ?

Pic doesn't show any buttress(es)... however, the wall is to prevent debris from rolling onto road. In theory, this should be hollow block with reinforcing rod and back-filled with concrete. But, this is the way, "block-flat" that you guys do it... it'll hold for now. Surprised the southern edge is (edit)vertically flat, not tastefully sloped - looks like northern (edit)vertical edge is sloped. Now just need steel mesh to hold the rock face back.

Pretty sure it’s in effect a cavity wall . Wonder if there going to fill the cavity with concrete. If not not much point in the cavity. The early pics definitely show brick ties

Would that wall have stopped the previous landslip?

Not a chance , that won’t stop very much . But they’ve cleared a big area at the rear of the wall now so maybe have a chance now.

How about waiting until it’s finished before commenting?

It is finished as regards structurally goes. You’re some pup CrazyDave. They might fill the cavity with concrete , good luck with that but that still wouldn’t stop the rock slip if it decides to go big time.
and my answer was in respect as to would it have stopped the previous slip. It wouldn’t have . But they’ve cleared an area behind so they have a chance. Does that clarify my comments enough for you now.
