manxman1980
I am going to directly quote from an article that CrossRoss referenced regarding "shills" (essentially people employed to provide an alternative point of view and influence others); "This section also contained a number of hints for de-railing conversations that went too far away from what we were attempting. These strategies included various forms of personal attacks, complaining to the forum moderators, smearing the characters of our opponents, using images and icons effectively, and even dragging the tone of the conversation down with sexual innuendo, links to pornography, or other such things. Lonan3
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-21936350 A former BBC producer who was accused of indecently assaulting a girl says the inquiry linked to the Jimmy Savile abuse scandal "has gone too far". Wilfred De'Ath, from Cambridgeshire, spoke out after being told he will not face charges over the allegation, which dates back to the 1960s. The Met Police has yet to respond. Mr De'Ath was asked on Today about a previous claim that Savile had spent the night in a hotel with a girl who was probably 10-years-old. Mr De'Ath said it had "never occurred " to him to go to the police. "I did say to [savile] 'I think you're living dangerously'," he said. "I was pretty shocked and disgusted. Also, I was physically frightened of Savile. He had been a boxer and a wrestler and he was in with some very rough people. "I would never have dreamed of grassing him up." 10-years-old?? WTF??? And there in a nutshell is the crux of the problem. Institutionalised 'looking the other way.' The sad thing is that these days one is discouraged from say picking up a child that has fallen over and hurt themselves as it could be interpreted as child molestation . This happened to me when on holiday I picked up a child who fell when running around a swimming pool (the parents nowhere to be seen) . When the mother eventually arrived , she assumed that I had caused the child to be distressed . Fortunately for me a couple of mums witnessed what had happened and put her straight. Was there not a tragic case some time ago when a van driver saw a runaway toddler ( who subsequently drowned in a garden pond) but didn't pick the kid up because he claimed he may have been accused of acting inappropriately . Sentience
82 year-old man arrested in Berkshire after enquiries related to Operation Yewtree. This might be a shocker... Can you tell who it is yet? Brings a whole new meaning to " tie me kangeroo down boy" though.....sorry, that's not even remotely clever.....me bad Seriously though, hopefully 'T', this is hearsay taken too far. There are so o o many of the entertainment professsion becoming suspects by 'those coming forward', to me it absolutely stinks of some, (at least) taking financial advantage of this most unfortunate current situation. Times have changed, there are lot's 'n lot's of situations that were once, hey,'just part of life' that are now deemed unacceptable. That's not however an excuse for taking advantage of anyone underage at the time by the way.
Sentience
Incidentally, wasn't 'Quilp' a nickname for Johnny Kelso who lived, in the 60's in Harris terrace? Is he still with us?....was he ever?
