wideload
What's scary is that he only won by 1% (popular vote).
wrighty
Wonder if Mr Bell has telephoned his congratulations yet, and said how he's looking forward to working with the continuing Democrat administration.
spook
A disaster for the USA - and a disaster for the free world. Maybe the USA will now even follow the USSR and disintegrate.
il buono
Wonder if Mr Bell has telephoned his congratulations yet, and said how he's looking forward to working with the continuing Democrat administration. He's flying over tomorrow on BA business for that personal touch! Jar of Manx Knobs from Reynoldsway would go down a treat!
Cambon
Wins! That other loon was obviously too much even for Americans. If Obama was white or the other "loon" was black, the other "loon" would have won by a country mile. The race card won the election.
Albert Tatlock
Perhaps he'll get the Nobel prize for physics this time. He's as good at that as he is spreading peace around the world.

Lxxx
The illusion of choice. Doesn't matter whether it's Obama or Romney, Democrat or Republican, the government gets in and the agenda rolls on.

Pierrot Lunaire
^^ How do you paste a picture like that which is permanently visible irrespective of log-in status? ^^
La_Dolce_Vita
Why did you put 'tin hat' picture up? Lxxx is right. The Democracts are just slightly the lesser of two very bad evils. These parties are driven by their own corporate agendas. And it is all about the illusion of choice, the illusion that the voter is an important player in American politics. They're not. It isn't popular goverrnment. Far from it.

Chinahand
LDV, are you saying the US would have universal health care even if Obama hadn't been elected? Would there really have been no difference if Maggie hadn't been elected in 1979 or if Gore had managed to get a hundred or so more chads to hang in 2000. In the real world elections matter, with real policy consequences which have very wide impacts. What would the NHS look like if Churchill had been relected in 1945 - if he'd had a go at it, the result could well have been a very different beast. The idea such differences are all an illusion is simplistic bollox - tinhat-, or Lala-, land if you ask me.
La_Dolce_Vita
LDV, are you saying the US would have universal health care even if Obama hadn't been elected? Not saying that at all.Would there really have been no difference if Maggie hadn't been elected in 1979 or if Gore had managed to get a hundred or so more chads to hang in 2000.The nature of the political parties in the UK is quite different. In the real world elections matter, with real policy consequences which have very wide impacts...The idea such differences are all an illusion is simplistic bollox - tinhat-, or Lala-, land if you ask me. I think you are not getting what is meant by the reference to illusion. The issue is one of democracy. There is no democratic choice to express one's political opinions and effect change following those opinions. Only the option of two political parties that are fundamentally guided by corporate desires and interests.
