Jesus Christ, you're dense.

Nope, just letting you dig yourself even deeper.

So go on does your "right" for every man/woman to bear arms include all peoples of all races/creeds/religions/sexuality/etc?

Yes, it does. And before you go "aha! but Thomas Jefferson blah blah blah", I am not Thomas F-ing Jefferson.

But do you not agree that with rights, comes responsibility?

Short and curlies of it....your meme was shit because it had no basis in fact.

America was never in danger and never will be in danger of being attacked by an invading army.

They have one of the largest professional armed forces in the world (and a large reserve force as well) and the biggest military budget in the world.

So does that mean that with the right to bear arms, the responsibility to keep them in a safe and secure manner comes with that right?

Yes, of course --- it is the responsibility of the individual to ensure that they are responsible with their guns and keep them away from children.

America was engaged in a war with Britain when the Second Amendment was written.

The Second Amendment is not to protect them from an invading army, but to protect them from tyranny. The framers of the Constitution had read their Roman history; they knew that a republic can degenerate into an empire and a president can assume the powers of an emperor. Their principle fear was of tyranny arising from within, not from outside their borders.

What you have to bear in mind is that the British Government was not a foreign power during the War of Independence --- they were THE legal Government of the American colonies. The War of Independence was a civil war against the Government.

America was engaged in a war with Britain (which Britain had lost 9 years previous) when the Second Amendment was written.

"Their principle fear was of tyranny arising from within" - Good job regular citizens can own enough firepower to start their own coup. That'll show that nasty government.

But that is exactly what the War of Independence was. Regular citizens starting their own coup. They weren't even a majority --- most people were happy to continue to go along with British rule. And yes, they won the War of Independence, but Britain was still fighting them. As I said earlier, the British sacked Washington DC in 1814 and burnt down the White House and the US Capitol building.

So you're saying while some in America may have the right to own a firearm, there are those that shouldn't be allowed a firearm because they do not carry the responsibility to go with that right.

Now if only the slaves had the right to bear arms to stop themselves being oppressed by slavery.....

But then rights only seem to apply to white people with money...

I agree that it is a pity a prohibition on slavery wasn't included in the US Constitution, but they couldn't do it at that stage because they were relying on the support of the southern states to keep the British at bay. It was decided that they would put slavery on the shelf for a later date. Nobody is claiming the Founding Fathers were saints. They were just ordinary men who happened to be the greatest minds of the modern era, but still imperfect and fallible human beings like you and I.

That's right. The mentally deranged should not be allowed to own firearms. Nor should 5 year old boys.
