Thomas Jefferson
How did Lassie get from California to the Highlands? Lassie is based on a 1940 novel by British author Eric Knight. The 2005 film is based on the original novel and not the 1950s American TV series. Another fine victory in the counter-war against Americanisation. Well done, Mr O'Toole. Thomas Jefferson
Where was the original novel set? I haven't read it but the author was from Yorkshire and the original 1940s film with Elizabeth Taylor featured Yorkshire and Scotland Scotland just like the 2005 version.
