LightBulb
mm.. To be honest, i had voted as going in fancy dress, However on reflection, as i don`t have anyone to go with, and after my experience with "the best of" get togethers, where trying to stike up a conversation with those from the financial sector is almost impossible, especially when you go to these sort things alone, And i think this seems to be more of a finanancial sector get together, as opposed to a manx sort of thing, so i think i will pass on this and delete my vote. Don't worry - the financial sector people are only there to buy drinks for the real people who turn up. From what I recall of the last one, I struggled to hear what people were saying due to the noise that someone claimed was 'music,' but it was an absolute delight to get to meet people like Gladys, theBees, PK [who turned out to be far less of a tw-t than you'd think from some of his posts ] and a host of others. I'll definitely be at this one - as long as it doesn't clash with the Braaid Eisteddfodd. I take it "PK" is Peter Karran then, Also, how did you reconise the financial sector people who were buying you the drinks ?
Lisenchuk
It's a different PK,but if Peter Karran attends you'll recognise him by his tailor. Same one as does Father Jack's wardrobe.

Lisenchuk
I thought it would be more exclusively reserved for intellectual elitists,Rhumsaa. Can you guess where I got that notion from? a sarcastic post of mine i assume... I deducted that as I am an intellectual elitist not some scruffy member of the unwashed masses such as yourself Well as your so good at subtraction here's a little addition for you. You're more intellectual colostomy than colossus .

2bees
Stop with the rot people, don't pigeon hole our party as having 'finance' people or 'Manx' people, we're all just people and I hope (as previously) that there will be people from all walks of life there, it doesn't matter what yer job/age/creed, if yer a MF regular, come on down. John might have been a law person at some point in his life but mostly he is John Wright and he's alright
Mission
We're forum people, end of. John, I'm on the fence with the private room idea at present but thank you very much for your generous offer to sponsor it. I will have a think on about it all. I do agree with what others have said about it being more awkward/intimidating/difficult to walk into a private room, especially if there are only a few people. Some of us have met before (and many times since) and would have no issue with that but I wouldn't want to put any new people off from attending by forcing them into a situation like that. Hey Rox, where's your gig? We could always just pile in to that GOMH, any further thoughts on a venue?
Merkin
I cant see the benefit in having it in a packed pub like the Rovers. Presumably you'd spend your night going up to people saying 'hello, who are you' and they look at you funny and have no idea what you mean. Much more embarrassing than walking into a private room. If you're gonna do it in a pub with potential civilians, at least make it a shit one that is more than likely going to be empty and take it over.
