The Sick Moon
I think that they mean that the mainland is Europe which makes sense as the little uk runs after Brussels all the time What a stupid post.
Thomas Jefferson
I always assume a person talking about the mainland must be a resident of the Calf.
Lisenchuk
When I hear someone referring to it as 'the adjacent isle' it makes me cringe. It's petty, and implies anoverinflated sense of self importance. I'm pretty sure it's meant to be used humorously but people do seem to use it in a serious manner. The stupid thing about it as an alternative to 'the mainland' is that it preserves the anglocentricity of the original. Which adjacent isle are they referring to? I often wonder if the user is referring to the Calf of Man.
