The point is, the western powers have been deliberately operating against moderate and liberal democratic factions in Islam and giving support to fundamentalist factions for since at least the 1800s. Who do you think put the Saudis and their Wahabi followers in power? Who was behind the ousting of Mohammad Mosaddegh in Iran and then later stabbed the Shah in the back because he got too indepdendent? The list goes on and on.....
