Expat living

Meanwhile down here the fish and chips are excellent. Fish usually landed either the same day or at the latest within 24 hours, chips also excellent.

Bread is also good, way better than Ramsey Bakery.

Bloody windy today smile.png .

How much are fish and chips there? They do reckon a lot of the cod we buy from chippies nowadays is not cod at all and is caught as far away as off South East Asia.

The Cornish Codfather charges £6 takeaway. This is local cod, I believe the stuff you get on the island is frozen on the trawler, most comes from Russian trawlers. You can't beat freshly caught fish.

One thing that's so nice here is that the place is open 52 weeks a year, even in the middle of winter at least half the eateries are running, now we're into Easter they are all open.

One of the many advantages of living on the Island, though it can be a two edged sword, is that in most cases really bad behaviour by an individual follows them around.

It's hard to hide much on a small island.

Not so in the UK, especially when there's a fundamentally corrupt international organisation intent to bury the misdeeds of its enforcement team, and regularly threatening those who have been offended against with worse retributions than the worst 'Capo di tutti i capi' of the Mafia could imagine let alone impose.

Here's another case of the many examples of where the Roman Catholic cult took a dirty priest and rather than insisting that the SOB be subject to the full extent of the law of the land instead negotiated with the police and moved him around until finally here in Norfolk his cover has been blown and he has been banged up. At the VERY least the bastard should have been excommunicated.

Hopefully the drains up will include why the police initially failed to go the whole way as well as why the Roman Catholic cult failed to do what they are morally required to do.

I would like to believe that such a thing could not happen on the Island.

It happened here years ago. The offending catholic priest(s) were 'moved-on'. All very hush-hush. One bastard in particular was enabled to carry on with the abuse elsewhere till the law eventually caught up with him. One victim, I know personally, says he was made to feel like it was his fault, even his parents didn't believe his pleas till others came forward and gave evidence. He is still 'damaged' by the experience.

Knottfield Children's home was another local scandal. https://theneedleblog.wordpress.com/operation-greenlight/isle-of-man

Dreadful.

Fortunately, kids and parents are more savvy to this these days but back then, the clergy were seen as untouchable.

If people help cover this up in my eyes they are as bad as the bastards doing it, I think you will find that the island has its own problem with abuse that is swept under the carpet.

Alcohol, domestic, you name it over here.

Luckily nowadays people are more switched on to what goes on, but its like someone said to me once that a lot of the people doing it are in a position of power and protected.

Well on a different note, good to see the steam packet have had another disastrous holiday sailing period.

Doesn't really give a good impression of the isle of scam does it lol

Something you bloody expats must be glad not to endure

Yeah I know what you mean, our neighbours relatives came over for easter and have had a hard time getting here and getting back, they live down the south coast and its really put a stain on their trip they were telling me.

I think they won't be back for a while, they don't really see the point of coming, next time they said they are going to fly as it is faster and less hassle.

I wouldn't bother flying either, my flight today from Liverpool was cancelled and the next available one is Thursday with easyJet - still I've a good hotel and a bottle of duty free champagne :-)
