Many years ago the "Examiner" I think it was published a 1930s picture of German soldiers with swastika flag etc marching past the war memorial on Douglas promenade...They were on an official UK visit that took in the Isle of Man also...I think they were parading as part of what was then known as "Armistice Day" I have tried to track down this photo from time to time but to no avail.

Here's a couple of links to follow. Took me ages to find.

perhaps altho who support the Royal Family should raise their hand.......... I'll get my coatflowers.gif

Not so much the Royal Family per se, but over the years, I have come to support our present monarch. Despite the many comforts and indulgences she enjoys at the expense of the tax payer, I think she has done her duty faithfully, keeping her own views to herself under political regimes that have varied from strongly socialist to rampantly right wing. I don't think a republic would have saved us much, if any public money as all the same trappings tend to apply.

If I am spared long enough to see another monarch on the throne, then my republicanism might well return, depending on how he performs his duties.

It won't matter how he performs his duties because he'll be bald. Nobody can take a bald king seriously.

Wasn't it to do with a Nazi who won the TT?

Not sure the rider was a "Nazi" if merely giving the salutation defines one as a "Nazi" the the England football team ( according to the tele this morning) could be accused of supporting the chap with the little moustache (including Charlie Chaplin).

The most influential person in ensuring the future of the British monarchy for many generations into the future is Bliar. The thought of Cherie (The Westminster Gargoyle) or her ilk aver becoming the UK First Lady has left a horror that will take many decades to fade.

The search seems to only be valid a few hours and then the link fails.

Search 'German'...date range 1st July 1936 to 31st July 1936. You see quite a few results.
